MAIDEN'S TOWER, MORNINGTON

Print Size
THE 16th century Maidens Tower is the biggest landmark on the sandy seven-mile coastline
of Co Meath. It literally towers over the Boyne Estuary where that historic river rolls into the Irish Sea.
It is said to have been a watchtower during the O’Neill Rebellion to look out for Spanish invaders.
It later became a navigational aid to guide ships into Drogheda.
